Kevin Wagar Earns His First Award For Video With A Bronze in Virtual Storytelling at the 2024 SATW Canadian Chapter Awards

Since 2024, Kevin has increased his focus on new media, boosting his YouTube channel and social media presence with engaging and exciting travel video content. His work was honoured at the 2024 Canadian Chapter Awards for the Society of American Travel Writers.

His video titled: Amazing Things To Do In Saskatoon: The HIDDEN GEM of Canada (You NEED to Visit!) won bronze in the Virtual Storytelling category at the May, 2025 event at the Le Germain Hotel Maple Leaf Square in Toronto, Ontario.

This marks Kevin’s first award in a video category, and opens the door for an exciting future of multimedia content that pairs with his award-winning travel writing and photography. Along with this award, Kevin also won Gold in the Photo People category for his photo of his wife, Christina, looking out over the Grand Meteora Monastery in Meteora, Greece.

The judging team for the award mentioned: “As a lover of Saskatoon, this city guide does a wonderful job of displaying the city’s burgeoning food scene, quirky character, intermingled nature, and friendly locals.”
