Toronto, Ontario – March 26, 2026
Travel creator and photographer Kevin Wagar has taken home two awards from the Society of American Travel Writers (SATW) Canadian Chapter ceremony, held on March 26, 2026, at the Le Germain Hotel in Toronto, Ontario — earning Gold in Virtual Storytelling and Bronze in Sense of Place Photography.
Gold in Virtual Storytelling: “Is This Egypt’s Most Beautiful Secret? The White Desert & Bahariya Oasis”

The gold-winning video takes viewers deep into the otherworldly landscapes of Egypt’s Western Desert — a region of sweeping sand seas, ancient oases, and silence that feels almost sacred. The award recognizes Kevin’s ability as an award-winning travel creator to craft immersive visual stories that go beyond the tourist trail and reveal the soul of a destination.
Bronze in Sense of Place Photography: Blue-Footed Boobies at Sunrise on Santiago Island, Ecuador

The bronze-winning photograph captures blue-footed boobies in the Galápagos Islands — one of the world’s most iconic wildlife encounters. Being recognized as an award-winning photographer for work shot in the Galápagos — a destination defined by its extraordinary biodiversity — underscores Kevin’s talent for finding the defining image of a place.
