This is my collection of photos from an eight-day cruise on the Western Loop of the Galapagos Islands in Ecuador, Thailand, taken on my family’s visit in 2024
You know those places that you dreamed of as a kid, but figured you’d “never get the chance to see?” For me, one of those places was the Galapagos Islands. This dramatic volcanic chain was so remote. Tied to some of the world’s greatest explorers, and one of the most important scientific discoveries of all time, the Galapagos seemed almost mythical.
In 2024, those fates changed with an incredible two-week trip through Ecuador that included Quito, Otavalo, Cotopaxi, Quilatoa, and the Amazon. The icing on the cake, though, was an 8-day cruise along the Western Loop in the Galapagos Islands.
These photos from my trip to the Galapagos Islands represent everything that I loved about this trip. No crowds, unfettered access to the wildlife, and dramatic scenery that seemed to shift around every corner, in a way that I’ve only ever experienced before in Iceland.
